About Sushi

As we continue to build SUSHISUI! we also will be adding more and more of our favorite sushi facts, places, reports, resources and links. For now, we'll start out small...

An introductory note About Sushi for the potential sushi-eater:

It is a common misconception that “Sushi” is just Raw Fish.

Although the Kanji for sushi may mean “Tasty Fish” – the usage of “Sushi” as pertains to eating sushi at a sushi bar or Japanese restaurant is a completely different anima – if you’ll parden the pun,
Most people associate the word sushi with raw fish – maybe because many sushi varieties are prepared using some type of fish or seafood. But actually, sushi is the marriage of vinegar rice to other ingredients. The fact of the matter is that many varieties of sushi do not even contain seafood at all. There are plenty types of sushi that are vegetarian only, there are also countless types of sushi that are made with cooked fish and other seafoods. And of course there are thousands of creative rolls and nigiri using all sorts of raw seafood and other creative items!

What are we saying here?
Sushi is for Everyone!

If you’re a vegetarian – there’s sushi for you!

If you love seafood but aren’t sure about this “raw fish thang” – there’s lots of great cooked sushi!
(Try some rolls with battered prawns, cooked crab and when you’re ready to be adventurous…try the BBQ eel!)

If you already like most sushi – you’re perfect just the way you are!

And…

If you totally and completely “GET IT,” you live the total sushi lifestyle, love uni….maybe even nato and you 100% THRILL to the idea of eating something from the sea that you’ve never tried before…
Well, you’re ONE OF US!
